Your contributions to this race will directly benefit the thousands of homeless companion animals that Tails will care for this year! THANK YOU! We had beautiful weather, amazing participants and the some of cutest dogs in the world at this year’s race! About The Race

Mutt Strut 5K is a dog-friendly 5K run/walk-a-thon benefiting the over 2,900 animals cared for each year at Tails Humane Society. The race route follows the DeKalb Nature Trail, beginning and ending at beautiful Hopkins Park. Enjoy a scenic run with friends or family while benefiting homeless animals. Join us and run for the rescues!

  • Dog friendly (no choke or prong collars, please)
  • Chip timing for better accuracy
  • Fast online results emailed to each participant
  • T-shirts for the people*
  • Dog bandannas for the pups*

Race Fees

There is a $30 registration fee for adults (18 years or older) and $15 for youth runners (under 18 years old).

All youth walkers are FREE!

DAY OF REGISTRATION AVAILABLE – Saturday, 9/14 beginning at 8:30 AM in the shelter beginning at Hopkins Park. Day of registration is $35 for adults and $15 for youth runners. Youth walkers are always free (t-shirt not included).

Friday, 9/13/19 from 4:30-6:30 PM in the shelter building at Hopkins Park

Saturday, 9/14/19 beginning at 8:30 AM in the shelter building at Hopkins Park

Age Groups & Awards

  • Medals and gift baskets will be awarded to top male and female finisher with a dog and top male and female finisher without a dog
  • Top male and female finishers in the following categories will receive a medal:

Under 12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
